My name is Huang Xi, and I am the Design Director of Chicmax Global New Product Creative Center. It has been almost 10 years since I joined Chicmax, and in this year, my work on the Kans Red Capsule Series won the "Oscar" of the design industry, the German Red Dot Design Award.
I want to thank not only Chicmax for providing me with a platform but also myself. I have been committed to design, pursuing perfection and excellence for the past ten years. On this dynamic and talented platform like Chicmax, I have not experienced workplace myths or been a genius player. I started as a junior designer, was promoted to manager in three years, and then to director in another three years, step by step.
In fact, design is a sitting-on-the-bench job that can sometimes be boring and depressing. The process of innovation is like an invisible network, tight and oppressive, but after breaking through, there will be a refreshing sense of accomplishment. Therefore, I always tell my team that designers need to endure loneliness, and innovation has no shortcuts.
Steve Jobs said, "Stay hungry, stay foolish." My understanding is to seek knowledge thirstily, be humble and naive, stay true to your original heart, keep it simple, and persist in following your intuition and passion. For designers, this means extreme focus and dedication to produce excellent products that speak for themselves.
This Red Dot Award has helped the world recognize Chicmax and Kans, bringing us closer to the top circles of design. At the same time, it has provided me with an opportunity to talk to myself and share my ideas with more people through design, bringing me a pure and childlike joy from the bottom of my heart.
It is said that children are born designers. In fact, every designer is an eternal child. We are full of childlike curiosity and passion for the world, which drives us to use design to change lives and make them better.
